I lived at MV for two and a half years and only recently moved because I wanted to live someplace cheaper. The downsides: creaky floors which made it hard to live below someone who walks around all night, the terrible driveway, and the general shabbiness of the apartments. On the plus side: it is safe, generally quiet, the views are amazing, the nearby trails are awesome, and my apartment got lots of sunshine. The latest manager (he's been there for 1.5 years now) is very good and takes good care of the grounds. Of course managers change all the time, so there is no guarantee he will remain. The two I experienced before him were not that great. Overall, I recommend Marquam Village, especially if you work at OHSU and don't need to live in a more happening, downtown-type environment. It is not perfect, but it's pretty good.
