Was only in Museum Place for a short time like some of the other reviews i had only first seen the place on my move in date. The walls are paper thin. I often heard toilets flushing and phones ringing in the nearby units. God forbid you had any visitors, the office staff treated and acknowledged them as if they should have been interviewed by them first. Personally, i believe that they were just being nosy because of the various gossip and rumors heard and said to me by all the staff as well as Ben himself which left a very uncomfortable stay. If you are young, single, and active this place is not for you-including a 10 pm curfew''' Some of the looks and rumors led me to often believe that there were camera's in the units. It is an attractive building and a great location for public transportation, but the rest is lacking. No amenities, like a gym, or even use of a copy machine or fax would have been nice to make up for the cheap construction. Also, just a rumor, the block had a porno theater which leaves a lot of strange characters walking around.

This is the most stupid-assed, ignorant review I have ever read. I have lived here for 7 months and have never heard the office staff talk about anyone or act in any other way but very professional and I interact with them daily. They have bent over backwards for me and even let me move up one floor to a better unit with no penalty or problem. The "curfew" the reviewer speaks to probably means he is being held accountable for his anti-social lifestyle and druggie friends. Yes, security is tight - I LOVE IT. And what about the last sentence - "Also just a rumor - the block "had" a porno theater that leaves people walking around" What does that mean??? Some old porno theater that doesn't exist has nebulous patrons or better yet, ghosts of porno patrons past wandering around the neighborhood looking for a long lost mystical venue??? What is this, the friggin Twighlight Zone?? Give me a break......

There actually is an adult movie theater a block away on 12th (Jefferson theater), so its patrons would presumably have a pulse and be walking around in the area. No ghosts or Twilight Zones. I would have thought that a 'non-ignorant' reviewer would at least be familiar with his own residential area.
The corner on Jefferson and 11th certainly used to be very shady, and several years ago there really were druggies hanging around Plaid Pantry, but it's definitely improved lately.

OH MY GOD, A PORNO THEATER! I'm more concerned with the church goers that walk around - there are several churches a block away also. Can 't trust those types at all. And I like how you say "used to be shady". Are you reviewing Portland History or the here and now? Personally, I am unable to time travel, so I am forced to live in the present...

As someone who lives in the building, I have to say this review is pretty lame. It's true that the walls are thin, but management here is phenomenal. Ben is really friendly and pays attention to his tenants. To me, that's a big deal because I like knowing if there's a problem it'll be taken care of (I rented a condo before moving here). I haven't gotten to know the new woman who works in the leasing office, but she seems really nice and outgoing. Also, our head maintenance guy is just top notch. Again, he's friendly (though I can't remember his name for the life of me), and he seems to care about the building. I think he also lives here.
Like I said, the above is a really bad review. I've lived in the building twice since moving in and am really happy here (I left at the end of a relationship - my ex and I were renting one of the biggest spaces and I couldn't afford to keep it on my own). Is the building perfect? Of course not. Nothing ever is, but the upside here is huge. A full Safeway downstairs, the courtyard, great management, the streetcar stops across the street (in both directions!), the VIEWS! Etc, etc etc. If you're a city person, this is tough to beat.

I have lived in Museum Place for 16 months and it is one of the best managed, and best places I have lived in. The management is very helpful, curteous, polite, and efficient. They have never questioned my friends and there is no curfew except for excessive noise. It is true the walls are thin and if I stand in the bathroom listening closely I can hear the toilet nextdoor flush. Otherwise it is not heard. Occasionally I hear the neighbors music, never loud enough to complain, and besides there is a noise curfew at 10:30. If someone was at home playing music all day it would be trying but that rarely occurs as most tenants work all day. As I said though the music would have to be loud and Ben will put a blanket on that at your request. The lcoation of this building is fantastic. There are numerous parks within walking distance, the streetcar is on the corner, and you couldn't ask for friendlier neighbors. You do not need a car to live here. The porno theater in question was closed long before I moved here in August 2007. It is also a quiet neighborhood for something located in a downtown core. I am a very happy tenant.

I agree with this reviewer completely - Ben and Natalya are nosy, rude to visitors, and downright snooty to deal with. I love the building but hate hate hate the management.

I agree with this reviewer. I OFTEN felt like there was a camera in my apartment. The management is very NOSY and superficially nice. I do NOT miss this place AT ALL.

Ben and Natalya are terrible and should not be working here! So far from helpful!
