At $345 a month, it would be difficult to find a place cheaper than this, in downtown or otherwise.

The apartments are insanely small (less than 100 sq. feet), and only allow one person to live in them, no exceptions.

The apartments have a bathroom, but no kitchen, just a sink, tiny fridge, and microwave.

The building has controlled access, and someone is at the desk 24/7, which makes it feel somewhat safe. The staff is usually very nice, but not knowledgable about what you need and how to help out.

The neighbors are anything from friendly to mentally disturbed, but I never had any problem with them.

The dumpster where you take your garbage is down in the basement, through a scary blind corner hallway. It's spooky down there.

You won't get much in the way of service here, and the hallways smell alternately like cigarrette smoke and strong air freshener.

It you can deal with a bit of weirdness, it might be worth the price. Your income has to be low, something like $19,000 or below.

Overall, I'd prefer to live in a nicer place, despite paying more.
