Breaking our Lease

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009
Me and my roommate have only lived here for about 6 months and we are now breaking our lease. When we first came here we were completely delighted by the new carpets, the two bedrooms and two bathrooms, the outdoor space and the washer and dyer in our unit. However, within the few days, we noticed that the walls were curved in certain areas, the carpet was not fully fit for our unit leaving small gaps along the walls, the lightening is terrible (blinks and buzzes in the bathroom) and the ac barely worked. Then one day our floors started shaking like there was an earth quake, turns out it was our neighbors having sex, not only did it shake our townhouse but we could hear them loud and clear. You can hear your neighbors shower, use the bathroom, shut their cupboards..everything. After the first few days of excitement wore off, we started noticing more and more issues with the apartment, the screendoor was ripped, the door to my room would open up with the wind, the towel holder in one of the bathrooms fell off the wall, the garbage disposal didn't work and only one heater in the downstairs area worked. Given the maintenance staff is friendly and generally timely it took forever to reach the maintenance line by phone. If I did not pay 1520 in rent plus *all* other utilities I would not feel so upset but for what we pay this place was kind of run down. Now after only 6 months we are breaking our lease, paying the extra months rent for breaking our lease and trying to find a new place. Able is definitely one of the best parts of this place but as stated by another resident, he can only do so much. And recently my roommate had a package sent to her over a month ago and was not told that it was received, until she went in today to find out what had happened. While we had a nice time here and we loved the location it is not worth the rent price. We were given a fantastic move in deal but it was not enough to keep us here. So, if you have money to spend, need a fairly quiet place, don't mind hearing your neighbors urinate, have sex or fight, then you will be set.
