Looking for an apartment is a difficult choice. Is the price right, is the management good, what kind of neighbors are there, what is the parking like, are there allot of kids running around unsupervised' Lots of things anyone thinks about when they go to rent from any place really. Well my boyfriend and I are moving into an apartment together. I found Riverwood Heights and had this picture perfect place to live. Well We found an apartment complex that interested us Riverwood Heights. The price seemed reasonable. We turned in our driver license to view the apartment and found one that we were intrested in.. not only did the leasing agent forget to give us back our driver license but she also rented that apartment the next day. Secondly we found another apartment we liked only I had a credit issue... leasing manager said you were denied and I have 10 people in line for that apartment take care of one bill and you can get approved but in the meantime I rented it.. I was like oh great, but she could get us on the 3rd floor... swell. So took care of the bill and I was told I was approved. Left out of town and while I was out of town I got a phone call stating that I got denied. I was mad. But she would see what she could do... in the meantime I am freaking out knowing that I have to be out by a certain date and that was communicated to the leasing agent. So I went and applied with a little more expensive apartments, and I got approved in 3 hours and was told I could have the apartment I wanted and was actually given a date to get my keys. OH and at the last minute I was told by the leasing agent at Riverwood I got approved... uhm yea I don't think so. She withheld information from me, not completly honest with what was going on. I thought if these are the kinds of problems that I am going to have and I don't even live there what kinds of problems will I have if I move in''' The apartment rating gave the apartments bad ratings, the mangement has only been in business since 2002 where as the other company has been in business for 35 years. Not to mention the fact that they did not give a tentant back their deposit and were taken to small claims court and the former tenants won... my suggestion. do your research before relocating to any residence especially an apartment. While we viewed the apartment there were a few kids yelling and running around without supervision... the leasing agent just said I wonder where thier parents are.. I am thinking is it like this all the time'

First I would like to say that yes, apartment hunting is a very difficult choice. If the leasing agent forgot to give back the IDs that was an honest mistake. It happens, we are not all perfect! Unless money is given for an apartment we cannot hold it for anyone. Which means...it could be rented the next hour or the next day. That is entirely possible. This is why we ask for the applications and app fee up front to hold the unit you want. You were able to rent a top floor apartment anyway, just like you wanted and when the application came back denied due to property debt and bad credit after a bankruptcy, which by signing the rental criteria clearly states would result in a denial. We called you and explained what needed to happen to get the problem corrected. In the mean time we did have other applicants wanting for a top floor unit. So yes your names were taken off that apartment after 24 hours of waiting for proof of property debt payoff. We passed along the receipt of property debt paid in full once we got it but we still had to wait for the override from our supervisor. Remember that it took the credit agency 3 days to fax along that information to us to begin with. Once we got that we called you. At no time did we withhold information; there is no gain for us in that. We kept you posted as much as we could. We were waiting for our supervisor to review your application. Again it is a process and again we were trying to help you. KJ

------------, Apartment MANAGER,
Isn't all this supposed to be confidential instead of humilitating this person all over the internet? Are these the type of people you want to rent from? I was a residen there a while ago and they told us confidential stuff about my neighbors all the time...THIS IS WRONG!

Way to go. Talking about this persons bankruptcy and bad credit. Yeah I see a few laws and breach of confidentiality here!

While what the manager said was accurate, if true, it was totally out of line to air this person's information. Though, I suppose because all of this is anonymous, no one can prove either way who the person in question truley is, or that the manager is really the manager, so all that was revealed was that someone somewhere had bad credit. By the way, I find it odd that a manager would even be responding to these accusations. It doesn't seem very professional. I would think that the time could be better used changing all the broken light bulbs. Lol. ;o)
