Can't Believe it.....

So, I moved here in July of 08. when I first moved in I was excited and happy to be moving into a nice place. So I thought. this last Friday I received a notice on my door that says I have an inspection happening on Monday in between 10am to noon. fine, no prob right'
Then my boyfriend told me that our Apt manager called HIM in the middle of that week instead of me. First of all, I am the main lease holder on the apartment, not him. Everyone that I have spoken to about this has told me that that's not ok. Then he continued to tell me that it was really for a walk through!! not an inspection. and he said he was going to be givin a gift card for it. He told me this on Saturday! I had one day to clean it well enough for someone to walk through, and still I bet it was pretty bad. That's not even the worse part. When I returned home on Monday at 5pm, I placed the key in my door, and swoosh! the door flew open... That's right ladies and gents, my friggen door was left unlocked. FOR 5 FRIGGEN HOURS!!! and it was very light too! a breeze coulda blew it open!!! Needless to say I was PISSED!!! I went in to check everything. everything was fine thank god. so I LOCKED my door... and went down to the office.... now the part that really fries me, is the way our manager acted about it!!!
Ok, there are two people in the office.... there was a really nice lady and I have been told her name starts with a P. she was really apologetic about it and understood my frustration. She wasn't the one who did it though... when the one who did it came over... she was as cold as ice and had the attitude that it wasn't her fault. She blamed it on my locks!!! I admit that every since I moved in, those locks have been hard, I have to pull the nob to get it locked. I told her when I moved in it was an issue and her answer to me at the time was a new key.... O.o... but for the last 5-6 months I have managed to lock my friggen door every day. I was mad, I was yelling. but she had the attitude that practically told me she didn't care if she put my life in jeopardy, what if there was someone in my apartment when I got home' what then'''' Instead all I had from her was a half-A** sorry. and a "what do you want me to do about it'" look. Then I brought to her attention that she should have contacted me last week, not my bf.... she pretty much told me that she can contact whoever she wants because he was a co-signer and it didn't matter if she contacted me or him. everyone that I have spoken to about this have also told me that that's not appropriate.
People (other residents) have been telling me that she, (lets say her name starts with K) doesn't care about the residents. that the care about the residents left when someone else left, I don't know all of the situation too well, but I can tell that that's what it seems like. When I first moved in, I defended this place with all my heart.... but I was proven wrong. If I could move, I would.

That doesn't surprise me a bit! The place really went down hill when denise ek disappeared! She was the one who truly cared and did it all. She helped everyone and cared for the kids a lot too. The manager, "Katie" who's still there could give a crap about the residents here and the company, "Affinity" isn't much better, look who they hired!! Better get out now!

Jennifur,
I'm sorry that you are upset and I do not want you to think I don't care. I sincerely apologized to you and it was an honest accident. I, myself locked your door and apparently the deadbolt didn't catch. In fact, I had two other people witness me lock your door. When you came in to talk to me, I wrote up a work order to have your locks fixed so it doesn't happen again. If there is something else you would like me to do, please let me know!
I called your roommate on the 7th to ask if he cared if we did a quick inspection of his apartment and that I would give him a $25 gift card in return for the favor. He said it was no problem. I also posted a 24-hour notice of inspection to your door the same day. By law, that's all I'm required to do. If you had an issue with the inspection, you could have called the office as the inspection wasn't even until the 12th leaving you 5 days to contact us.
I absolutely DO care about all of my residents and I'm sorry if you feel otherwise. As I stated before, if there is ANYTHING else you would like me to do just let me know. When you left my office the other day, I thought we talked about all of this and the matter was settled. If you do not feel that it is, let me know what we need to do to make it right with you. Katie

I just felt very unsafe after that. I do appreceate the fact that the door is now fixed. but I felt that you became very cold to me. I was pissed. i'm not going to lie about that. I just have a feeling that it didn't matter to much to you. everyone I spoke to after that told me that I should post on here. I was surprised to see so many bad things said about this property as this is the first time I have visited this site. and the part that made me mad is that my roommate said you called this to him a "walkthrough" and you titled it as an inspection. that is probably why you should contact the main lease holder so that there is no miss communication. I KNOW you have my #. I just wish this hadn't happened is all. And when safety is involved, I think people should know.

I lived in this complex and I completely understand the frustration. This complex does absolutely nothing to help the residents. Their main concern is for the rent. I had fleas like crazy after I moved in. This was due to the place being infested prior to my moving in. When I moved out, I was required to pay to replace the carpet throughout the entire apartment and it was not even my fault. Needless to say, I am very grateful that I no longer live there. This complex is like living in the slums in the middle of a decent city. To be honest, the rent is way to high for the way that people are treated and the way that the complex is taken care of.

I don't think the management doesn't care. I'm a current resident, and Riverwood is a BIG property. For someone to have to oversee that many people, you can't make every single one of them happy and kiss their butts. They management does the best they can and all that they are asked to you. If you have a problem and don't bring it to their attention, they can't fix it...
