When I first moved to Oregon to be with my BF he had picked out this apartment for us. It was decent. The first things I didn't like was the closets had no shelves, the two bathrooms were -tiny-, and our door was right not even a foot away from our next door neightbors. Plus, given it's set up more like a hotel than apartments, the hallways always stunk. I thought for the price we were getting though, I could handle it. Then the spiders started to set in and the only thing management suggested was to get a can of Raid. Even though I suggested it might be the trees which are growing into our balcony, nothing was done. Then there was a huge hole in the walkways around our apartment that people could fall in and it took nearly 2 months of complaining to get that fixed. There was a problem with the water company they use. It's based in Georgia so anytime you need to call them it has to be done during the early day. For those of us who work that makes it hard, especially when the water company "misplaces" the check and then contacts the apartment complex who states we'd be evicted if we didn't pay. Of course this wasn't told to us by a phone call. Oh no, there was a note posted on our apartment door that anyone could come by and read. Not only that, when I called to explain to them we weren't past due the water company found our payment and inquired to why they didn't just call me to find out about it I was "we simply don't have the time to give any sort of customer service like that." by one of the managers. Another thing is there is only 1 cable outlet in the whole place, and it's tucked into the corner by the screen door which means there has to be coax cables everywhere to get the TV in a presentable place.
I do find the maintence staff to be very wonderful though and a bonus is that the managing office will sign for packages for us. However, that doesn't make up for all the other crap that is wrong.
Edited 2008: When we moved out a month early, we ended up having to pay for our covered parking spot because we didn't give them "30 days notice" that we didn't want it for the last month. They took this out of our security deposit. Which I thought was silly. Why do they need 30 days notice on not using a parking spot anymore and why weren't we told' We decided to not clean the apartment when we left and opted to just have the cost deducted from our security deposit. The manager was livid about my review here, and called me several times that day (while I was at work). Finally I was able to get my husband to call him back since I couldn't answer, and the manager stated that if we left any more bad reviews for them they would post pictures of the state of our apartment. I'm not really sure what stinky hallways, bugs, and rudeness from the staff has to do with the state of our apartment when we left, but that's just the kind of people they are.
