Treated very poorly by "corporate" office

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2006
I have an excellent tenant record. I've never been late with rent; never had any complaints wagered against me; no derogatory issues of any kind.
Thus I was astounded to discover I had been DENIED eligibility to rent an apartment at Russelville Commons. I had paid not only the application fee, but also extra charges to send documents by overnight mail and fax items to them as well: my outlay: $80.00.
When I asked why I was denied, I was told simply that there was a "negative public record" about me (!!'') and also learned that the corporate person who conveyed this information to the resident property managers refused to speak with me or allow me to call.
I was advised to go the "the courthouse" and "talk to them" about it...what''
I later received a letter from Summit Properties, stating the same, and claiming that it got its information from Equifax.
This was an expensive, demoralizing and highly impersonal experience--in thirty years of rental dealings, it takes the cake as the WORST encounter ever.
I suppose I am lucky that I didn't move there. I found a much better place in a more desirable neighborhood for 130 dollars a month less than what they were charging.
To sum it up: Potential Renter BEWARE.
