We lived at Somerset West from 2003-2004 and now are returning from a really bad rental experince with another local apartment complex. Which we can not name the property but it is local and right off of 185th.
We have always had a great relationship with the managaement with Somerset West the staff is always easy to reach and talk with which makes it very nice to deal with. We like the park like settings and having no one above you or under you is a plus. After our recent tumble with our current bad landlods who shall remain nameless we just thought to call Somerset West because we had such a good standing with them we thought how about it. So all I did was place one call to the manager and she immediately stated i have a place right now for you and also made it a very easy transition for us. Now we are moving in with in two days of talking with her. I cant express how great it is to work with professional and friendly staff. I would and will always recommend Somerset West to anyone I know that needs a good place to live.

This sounds like the manager herself wrote up a glowing report to offset all the negatives one about this apartment. When we drove through this past fall, 2009, the place looked dumpy with hanging screen windows and screen doors, over grown foliage, parking spaces few and far away from the cottage itself. I had wanted to look them over and maybe have a break finally from pounding feet above our heads in our current apartment, but decided we shouldn't even stop at the managers office, which was also difficult to find. We sat for a while with the windows open, and thought the freeway noise (which is directly across the small road) wasn't as bad as thought since a concrete wall barrier had been built to help with noise pollution. We looked over the cars in the parking lot for an indication of the general style of people and their cars, and found most to be old wrecks. Several broken down or with flat tires. We left feeling like this could be a dangerous place when dark, since we couldn't see any security lights other than around the entrance area.

This was written by a manager no questions asked. Having previously lived there for a year, this place is a dump. I'm surprised you saw places with even a hanging screen, that's an upgrade! Most of the apartments have no screens what so ever. My place only had one!
