I lived in a 2 BDRM at the St. James apartments for almost 3.5 years. It was a nice apartment right by the museum, Safeway... small balcony, small kitchen, a spacious bathroom...not a lot of closet space, nice bedrooms! The staff....Melissa Jbalonski was the manager when I lived there...to try not to say anything bad..she is no longer there! (What an awful experience!) For the most part, she was too young to be a manager, & poor decisions!I had talked to many of the residents over the years and heard the same stories! However, all the sudden upper management came to us telling us that they would like to take the apartment back from us and terminate our residency with a 30 day notice. (Mind you this was not an eviction notice because of something we did, it was the management company re-possesing the apartment.) I paid $840/ month and $0 for parking and I am imagining that they knew that they could get another tenant in the apartment and make much more money. SO...if you have completed your lease there and are a long term tenant, either renew your lease or move out! (Dont go month to month because they have the right legally to take the apartment back with a 30 day notice and no questions asked. They will offer to move you into another apartment, but the 2 bedroom apartments are on reserve and VERY limited!!) I had difficulties with my neighbors and managment addressed it very poorly. (They basically told us to knock on the neighbors door and work things out). Im sure that management has changed now and have someone compentent of running the place in the managers seat. I would recommend this place to anyone, its nice....its a great location, but I am sure that they have jacked up the rent!! Expect to pay atleast $1100 for a 2 bedroom (if you are on the waiting list of over a year), parking $80 and $700 for a 1 bedroom. I would DEFINATELY recommend this place to anyone who can afford it, but beware of the noise! It is a cement building which is great, but some neighbors play very loud music!
