Yo!

You can't go wrong

I echo the sentiments (good and bad) of all the reviewers here. I moved into the Bridgecrest in summer '06 after living in the Hawthorne area for a while. I ended up staying a little over a year at the Bridgecrest and only left the building because I was leaving town. Otherwise I'd still be there now! My apartment was a one-bedroom loft style, which had been renovated and updated the year before I moved in. I enjoyed the stylistic touches in the place and the muted color scheme- the apartment really became a cozy little home to me. Extra bonuses: the St. John's Bridge (the most excellent bridge ever) and Cathedral Park are right there! St. John's is a funky little neighborhood and everything is very conveniently located- the St. John's theater is a one minute walk away. William is the most courteous and prompt (and nice) building manager I've ever had in my 10-plus years of apartment dwelling. The price is still right also.

A few (slight) drawbacks: another reviewer mentioned this, but yeah, the fire station is kitty-corner to the building (right near my old unit) and I noticed that they like to move the trucks and test their flashing lights at midnight and later. It could get very loud at night, but I did get used to it after a while. If you live in one of the upper units, noise from lower tenants comes in through the floor (if they like blasting techno at strange hours), but I never heard a thing from my neighbors to either side of me. Finally, St. John's is a very cool little area, however, it's still very small and isolated from a lot of places. For the most part this is one of the things that attracted me to the neighborhood, but when you get outside of the little "downtown," there's not much going on, and it can seem dangerous, especially if you like to travel (or stumble) on foot. Once you get to know the few local places to hang out, that's pretty much it. I know way more about Slim's than I'd ever care to.

But overall, you really can't go wrong by choosing it, and I highly recommend it! 6TrHFn6pn7poyqNlKEgn
