Everything was wonderful when we were signing the lease and moving into Sylvan Highlands. The leasing staff were very friendly and helpful, the apartment was better than any we've had before, and the maintenance staff was very nice to fix a couple things right after we moved in.
However, since that time, a new manager was hired and everything has been downhill from there. First, the TV was stolen out of the fitness center by previous tenants to get revenge on the manager for kicking them out. Management refused to replace the TV; they kept referring me to "corporate" because they are the ones who make those decisions, and corporate never responded to my calls and letter. It only costs $150 to replace a TV, but they do not care about the residents. It is very difficult to try and get up at 5:15 AM to run when there's nothing to do but stare at yourself in the mirror or read a book, which is impossible because you're bouncing up and down so much.
Secondly, the new manager cancelled the free shuttle service to the MAX station. This was the #1 reason why we chose to move into this complex. Now, we have to buy another car (and try to find a space in this overly crowded parking lot) and pay a bunch more money in gas and parking to get to work each day. Of course they will not let us break our lease because of this, so we are pretty much stuck here.
The new manager is a complete nightmare to deal with. She is very rude, condescending, and unsympathetic. She absolutely does not care about the residents or their needs. She even instructed me on how much soap to put in the washing machine because she couldn't admit that it was the property's fault that it kept leaking all over the floor. I know how to do laundry!
I do not recommend this complex because the management is horrible to deal with. They put on a good act when you're signing up, and then they stick it to you once you're locked in.
