a good place

I lived here for almost two years between Nov 2005 and Aug 2007. My brother and I looked for a long time before we found these apartments. We researched them carefully, and there were no nasty surprises. For us, this was a great place. Of course, we had some special concerns. We wanted two bedrooms of approximately equal size. We wanted both bedrooms with bathrooms attached that could be closed off from the rest of the house. Frank Estate had that, and it makes these apartments good for equally split roommates. They accepted our 3 cats. We didn t lie to them, and they said OK. We had a townhouse. It was beautiful and light and airy. Walking trails are nearby. We used the racquetball court a lot until they started remodeling. When our lease was up, they let us sign a new one without increasing our rent (they said we were paying market value, but I ve _always_ had the rent increase on a resigning, so I appreciated their honesty).

I LOVE the big trees and the green grass and waterways. We saw a coyote and a hawk and waterfowl and nutria (yes, I know they re pests) all in the apartment complex in the wetlands area. All our maintenance issues were addressed promptly and competently. The common room is gorgeous. Free cookies every time you go to pay the rent. :)

The bad stuff: Month-to-month is exorbitant (you gotta sign a lease). You do not stop paying rent until 30 days after you give them move-out notice no matter when your lease ends (this is common, but don t forget or you ll kick yourself). Invest in a space heater. As with most apartments, insulation is abysmal and you can pay a lot for not much warmth. But a space heater works fine. Lastly, Oleson Road is under construction. This isn t the apartment s fault, but it s a huge reason not to want to live there until 2008 or 09. That construction was the bane of our existence towards the end. If you re moving here in 2007 or 08 and you will need to get on Oleson for any distance, consider very carefully.
