How hard is it to lock the doors'

For the past month and a half I have been trying to get the management to fix one of the outside doors into the building since it does not lock. I expressed my concerns after cars were broken into and were told "a work order was put in." A few weeks went by and nothing happened.
Then a homeless person started using the hallway to sleep in at night and started urinating in the hallways. (Repeatidily). While the management company did send people in to clean the urine, they did nothing about the door.
Again I brought it to their attention that the door did not work. Still nothing. Now a month and a half and four complaints later, I have been told that they never knew the door was broken.
I know going into an apartment that you have to put up with certain things. Noise is going to be an issue in almost any apartment. Same thing with an annoying staff. However, taking over a month to fix a door is utterly ridiculous especially when you're living downtown. Not only that, but the fact that they are acting like I'm a pain in the *** because I dare to bring an issue to their attention is even worse.
