I lived at Vista St. Clair for almost five years. I was in my early forties at the time, and thus much younger than the typical renter there. I made some lovely friends with the retired folk, and enjoyed the building very much. The maintenance staff does a very good job. The building is very secure, and generally quiet. I lived on the 7th floor on the north side, facing the traffic light. Noise in summer from the street, and at night as the downtown bars close, was a problem. It usually woke me up at 2:00 AM or so. The building owners and management team are rather strict about lease arrangements, but not to an objectionable degree. I would live there again. Be sure to ask lots of questions up front about rules and such; there are a good many of them. Finally, the building's clientele was changing during my stay there. More and more younger people were moving in. That may alter the particular charm of the place. Indoor parking costs more, but is worth it. On-street parking is difficult (it's NW Portland, after all).
