I think the last three reviews illustrate the situation at Vista St. Clair pretty well. Although the building itself is pretty nice, and the standards are usually fairly high - there may be one bad apple in the management staff. You can get a sense of the contempt for residents (or maybe just people in general) by reading the comments on the previous reviews. Unfortunately as this is the building manager, you often have to deal with a sort of snide and self-important attitude more than you would like. I tend to avoid the lobby if I want to keep my good mood in place. The rest of the staff are usually quite friendly and helpful. Hopefully the building owners are due for an epiphany soon and see fit to put someone in check or find a replacement. I am sure any issues with maintenance would soon clear up as I think it really just boils down to respect for residents.

I am not going to post anonymously because I have no reason to do so. I hope those outside the Vista St. Clair who are reading recent "reviews" of the Vista realize they are (most probably) coming from one person in the building who is unhappy with his/her experience here and is taking it out on the building and its manager. I am a resident of the building. I am e-mailed reviews of the Vista St. Clair because I contributed one in 2004. It makes me very unhappy to see someone use this site to try to ruin the reputation of the building and its' manager under the guise of anonymity. I have lived here since 2003. I could not ask for a better location (within walking distance of downtown, the Pearl, 23rd, or Washington Park), a more beautiful apartment, or more thoughtful and conscientious staff. If you are looking at apartments in Portland, don't let the person who has is posting negative comments dissuade you from visiting the Vista St. Clair. Most of us who live here couldn't be happier.
