Can Hardly Wait to Move ...

Westridge Meadows is a really mixed bag. Here are the positives: Playground for the kids. Nice new buildings. Right next to grocery and shopping. Nice staff and cool maintenance guys who show up promptly and do good work. Swimming pool and workout room. Washer, dryer, and dishwasher in unit. Balconies.
But on the flip side: The construction is so thin and cheap that you can hear a LOT of noise within the building. You can hear toilets flushing, people stomping and talking, etc. When the person who lives above me goes to the bathroom in the middle of the night, the toilet flushing wakes me up. I could not get a decent night's sleep here until I went out and bought a pair of earplugs, and I am not even a light sleeper.
I don't like the appliances (Roper brand) either. The dishwasher is so loud that I can't even turn it on unless I am leaving the apartment. You can't hear the TV or radio or anything with that thing going.
To continue: The parking spaces in many areas of the lot are so narrow that if someone parks next to you, you can't get out of your car! And the spaces are all assigned. You can park in an unnumbered visitor space, but those are not any wider.
There is a lot of street noise from 185th Avenue, which runs right next to several of the buildings. And in the morning, that is the main road for people going to school at PCC, so it can be very difficult to turn out onto 185th to go to work. You have to get creative, or aggressive, to get out.
The constant noise and the cheap construction are really the main reasons why I am unhappy. And that's too bad, because the staff is good here. I feel sorry for them in a way, because they should have a better product to represent.
Oh, and you may want to know that this is an income-restricted property. Depending on which unit you get, you either have to make under $22,000 or $28,000 per year (that may not be exact but it's close). Which is ironic because the rent is $530 per month, but you can find cheaper places to live that are not income-restricted (and with a smaller deposit, too). Makes no sense to me. I had to find a place fast at the last minute, or I probably would not have ended up here.
I almost forgot -- you'd better have renter's insurance, too, because there are sprinklers inside your apartment. If they are set off accidentally, all your stuff will be soaked. Of course, they could also save your life, but either way your stuff would be ruined.
Anyway, I have done my part by trying to tell it like it is. There may be people here who are lucky enough to live in a quiet section with neighbors who tiptoe, and they may love it, but I am not one of them. I can hardly wait until my lease is up.
