I lived at Wimbledon during the Y2K, and I'm glad that I only had a 6 month lease. Moving from California, the rent for my dinky,dank and dark little studio seemed very reasonable...but I soon found that I didn't care to use most of the "amenities" they affored and began to realize I was paying extra for nothing. However, all that was just bad decision on my part. The real pain came when I moved away and then received a bill for 2 weeks rent!!

Now, I had moved in on the 5th and had been given a pro-rated fee for the five days that I wasn't there. I moved out on the 1st--taking great pains to REALLY clean the place up, because I wanted my deposit back. Then I get a bill for two extra weeks rent. Well, certain that there must simply be a mistake, I called the management office to clear it all up. I was informed that the rental contract ended on the 15th, not the 1st, and I should have read my contract closer. I said, "Who has their contract end on 15th'''" I also pointed out that they had pro-rated my 1st month because I moved in on the 5th, and that didn't make logical sense if their contracts ended on the 15th!

The person helping me was completely cold and uncaring about my situation. When I asked if there was some arrangement we could come to, she said to me, "Well, that's the first sign of compromise I've heard from you, yet!"

WHAT' Compromise'' If anyone should have been offering a compromise, it should have been THEM!

In the end, they dropped the extra rent due and kept my security deposit, instead. I wish that I had left the place a dirty dump!

BE VERY AWARE IF YOU RENT HERE!!

Oh, and don't get me started on the WATER that came flooding out of the LIGHT FIXTURES over the sink what the apartment above flooded... AD2Hw9Wn8Umb3NN1w1jt
