So, I've lived here about a year. During that time my roommate had her car broken into twice in the so-called "secure" parking lot. There was constantly noise coming from outside and from upstairs and a pretty steady stream of pot smoke drafting in whenever the windows were open. To top it off, when I decided to move out, but wasn't able to leave until a month after my lease expired, I was charged a month-to-month rate that was a full $500 above what my lease rate had been! I was flabbergasted and couldn't get out soon enough. I expected a small increase when paying month to month, but this was outrageous. Total highway robbery. They are basically trying to bully you into signing another lease. There was basically nothing I could do about it. I spent lots of time on the phone with those in the office who said they didn't have the power to change the rate, then was sent to speak to the manager who also said she didn't have the power to change the rate. She told me that she would call the regional office or something and get back to me about reducing the charges. She never did, and then when I tried to get a hold of her I was told she had left for a long weekend. I was forced to pay the ridiculous rent. These people are jerks who don't give a ---- about their tenants. All they care about is getting as much money out of you as possible while giving you-sub standard living conditions. I'm serious, find somewhere else to live, or you will regret it as I do.

The point about their lies is that they are PROUD OF and PRACTICE it! When she saw the opportunity to tell you to wait past the cut-off date for rent, as she went on vacation, that was a positive "must do", not a way out. That's what they do. Don't buy a word of it and hold out tough. I had 100% exact situation. After hearing that going from a 2 bedroom $700/month to a 1 bedroom would be $500 more, I went legal AND nuclear and they offered me the 1 bedroom for $495- TOTAL. They make it up as they go. Bottom line, when you are arguing with them. I had a deal when I came in from out of town at 5pm on Friday and they wanted cash, not a check. The manager, Rachel, and the ass. manager, Robert Black, CAN DO BLOODY WELL WHAT THEY PLEASE. It's one of the reasons this company sucks. They're proud to be jerks and authorized to do so. AUTHORIZED. Remember, whenever you are fighting them, they COULD do what you want. If you walk away without, it is your own fault/lack of backbone. Don't fear these people. They break the law everyday and are scared sh*tless of someone getting something on tape or in writing. Give 'em a way out and they will take it. Figure out a way to set it up where giving you what you want looks to them like screwing you and it's a cake walk! But the only thing that works is to isolate the soft squishy bits and SQUEEZE! Look at it this way. If you move here, you either do that, or have it done to you. Period. I haven't lived there for 5 years and I'm still this PO'd. Let's organize a march on this place and let those that live there know they're not alone. Signup list at fcktierryhenry@yahoo.com.

I'm with you. This place sucks. I was lucky I got out before they screwed me too. A friend of mine had the same problem with them raising his rent. He threatened to call a lawyer and they caved immediately. Don't let them screw you.

It's a dump for what they charge. I could get a one bedroom in a brand new building in the PEARL for less than $800!
