Don't Be Fooled

It may look nice from the outside, but don't let that fool you. There are mulitple problems with this complex, first and foremost being it's location. You may think it's right downtown, it's close to the Max, what more could you ask for' Then, enter the trains. They never stop running, they wake you up in the middle of the night - they blare their horns, and shake the building. And then of course, there's getting stuck at the tracks. There is no way around this, as The Yards is situated between two cross points. Whether you're walking or driving, you will get stuck multiple times a week. And I guarantee you, this gets very old very quick.
And how about parking' The Yards charge an outrageous amount for parking in a garage that they call "secure". Once again, don't be fooled. Opting for street parking' How about metered parking in a residential area. A new car is broken into almost every night.
And what about the quality of folks that live at The Yards. Sure you have your yuppies, you have your students, but you also have your drug addicts and your tweekers. I never felt safe in my own apartment because of the people that lived around me. I have been stopped and harassed in the elevator, I have tripped over people sleeping in the staircases, and their gated and secured doors are anything but. With one good pull, anyone can get into the building.
And lastly, the customer service. The members of the office team do not know what customer service is. The leasing mangager is rude, the staff has no flexability, and you receive a different answer to the same question from each person you talk to.
Point being, do not be fooled. Please take this review into consideration. I read all these reviews before I signed my lease, and although they were mixed, I figured it really couldn't be that bad. However, it really IS that bad.
