i'm an art institute student and i live in a town house, not an apartment and i think that by it's self has made my stay at the yards so much more enjoyable. I really like my apartment and i don't know if the walls are well insulated or if we have quiet neighbors. i know that we (there are normally about 7 of us staying in the apartment because we have a nice apartment)often make a lot of noise but it's rare that we get that "shut the hell up before i ring your neck bang on the wall" the worst i think it bass. i had to move my subwoofer before the neighbor would quit banging on the wall.

i don't drive so i can't say much for the parking. i've never seen any homeless people in the courtyard or in the buildings when i went to the gym. they tend to only sleep under the bridge by the train tracks. the trains blocking traffic have never really been a problem unless i needed to pee. if i see a long one coming i'll just take the foot bridge.the train noise as well has never been a problem for me and i don't mind it.

the winter was fine and very comfortable. i am concerned about the summer with no air conditioning. i do have a balcony in my room though and i think that will improve the quality of my summer life immensely.

we have four girls who live there permanently and two have long hair. the drain gets plugged, it seems, every few weeks and there are three guys that stay there most of the time that always drain grease into the sink. between the two drains we see the maintenance men fairly regularly and they are always there the day of or after the maintenance request and do good work.

the only thing about the yards is the cost which i really can't afford so when my lease is up next year i'll be looking for somewhere cheaper to hang my hat. it's a shame because i adore my apartment and my roommates. feel free to email me if you have any questions.
