I'm in the "A" building. About 4 weeks ago, the card key system abruptly stopped working and the only way to get into the building was to go in when someone left or to be let in by someone living in the building.

The solution (don't laugh): duct tape. The tape restrained the locking mechanism on the front gate and the main door. When people started to gripe, the management put a notice on the door saying that it would be fixed soon and not to disturb the tape because it would lock people out.

I went out of town for two weeks thinking that surely this would be fixed by my return. No, the situation is the same or even worse: The front gate and main entrance are still kept unlocked by duct tape. The back door, which had once been kept unlocked the same way, is now permanently locked (no tape). Some poor little elderly person with a couple sacks of groceries will find the door locked and will have to drag him/herself around to the front way.

The main difference, though, is the complete absence of even a note promising a fix. Apparently, this is how it's going to be.

Another approach to security offered by the management is hilarious. They have posted notices not to let people they don't know into the building. This is in lieu of actually having a security presence at the door, obviously.

Now, I don't know about you, but most people are going to enforce this request (if they do so at all) in inverse proportion to the threat the other person appears to pose. So, it's more likely to be enforced on a 92 lb. 87 year old woman than a 220 lb. hostile/dangerous-looking street person.

The place is run by dopes.

AFTER OVER FOUR!!!!!!!!! MONTHS-THE SECURITY DOORS AND GATE ARE NOW FIXED. AFTER MORE THEN 4 MONTHS!!!!!! THE STAFF COULDN'T HAVE CARED LESS ABOUT OUR SECURITY!
