It's okay if you can't find anything better

I've lived at the Yards At Union Station for roughly a year now. Needless to say, once my lease is up I wont be staying here. I find the place a bit overpriced and never had a really cheerful experience dealing with the staff. People constantly vandalize the buildings. For instance, someone had splattered pudding all over the elevator. When they finally did clean it they did a crappy job at it, there's still bits of pudding in the elevator. The elevators seem broke half the time and I'm almost scared to use them. The elevators for the sky bridge (a foot bridge that goes over the train track) is even worse. It isn't uncommon to find that someone has used them for a bathroom. I've even found homeless people hanging out in them doing drugs and/or smoking. Speaking of homeless people, often times I've found homeless people sleeping in the stairwells.
My sister went to the Art Institute of Portland and spent a brief time in Student Housing. She didn't have much kind things to say either. Worse of all she had to spend 800 dollars to share a dinky first floor 2bedroom apartment with 3 other people. She told me that often times she was awaken by drunken people standing outside her window talking about stuff. I've had friends complain to me that when they came to visit me people would be up on the balconies pouring beer on people as they passed by. I've seen people spit off balconies, throw food, garbage, and those sorts of things. It isn't uncommon to hear people screaming, yelling, and generally being rowdy.
Keep in mind too that The Yards at Union Station are on the "good" side of the track, and I use that word loosely. There is a LOT of shady people right on the other side of the tracks and they often come over to the yards and hang out. If you're walking you're kind of forced to have to walk through these really shady areas too. There's no easy way around it, if any.
The Yards at Union Station tries to put on a show of being an affordable apartment complex close to the pearl. The pearl experience, without the cost. It's anything but that. The outside may look pretty, but once you take a good look at the place you'll realize what a dump it really is.
