With the exception of the student population in the building, we are in general very happy with the Yards. We are fairly low maintenence tenants who pay our rent and basically only have contact with office if something needs repair (which is rare) or the rarity that we have a questions, and in general our contacts have been met with very courteous response. I thought originally when we looked at the model unit similar to the one we are in, that it would be too small for our needs, but the dimensions holds our furniture and such very well. The students in the building can be quite rude and hold noisy parties at all hours though, but we have found that the office response has been quite swift.

Please remember, we moved here from a building that was pretty much driving out its middle income tenants (and a few of its high end ones too) and had poorly maintained the infrastructure of the building while dressing it up to look upscale. Perhaps the GSL staff isn't up to some folk's snuff here, but we have found folks around here to be very helpful. Kudos to the Yards. The trains put me to sleep at night.

I'm also happy with my apartment, but why wouldn't I be? I picked it out and inspected it before I moved in. Didn't you? It sounds like you're giving kudos for getting exactly what you paid for. And let's remember that the relative affordability of the apartments here is a result of a deal the developers made with the city (including tax breaks) when the buildings were built. We have the city to thank for affordable rent here, not the management.
