I have very mixed feelings about this place. The Staff are awesome! The complex is clean most of the time. This is subsidised housing so you get a lot of vagrant druggies and drunks. Ironically, they are pretty quiet. The management will evict them if they have proof of misconduct or drugs, so that's a plus. The complex is very old. It has wood floors covered in carpet, and paper thin walls. Sound really travels in this place, I can hear the neighbors two doors down walking and playing music. The 6 ft long(across the base board) and 1/2 ft tall heaters are on the floor (on parallel walls),in the living room, and get very hot. Furniture has to be moved a least a foot away from the walls, and you can't hang anything on those walls either. Considering that my living room is only 12 x 10 (empty) it shrinks down to 10 x 10 (empty) we have about 8 feet of room in which to put an entertainment center, couch, kitchen table & chairs, and other living furniture. It is very cramped. The kitchen is cramped, and has no dishwasher or disposal in the sink. There is very little cupboard space, and the sinks are low to the ground. Anyone tall can get a serious backache bending so far to do dishes. The fridge is a good size. Lightbulbs have to be replaced by you but installed by the maintenence man. There is NO CENTRAL AIR! We don't even have ceiling fans. If we want a ceiling fan we have to buy it, and the maintenence will gladly install it for us. We have to keep our doors and windows closed during the day (to store the cool air) and blow the house out at night to cool it off. Here in Rogue River....it gets 110 degrees in the summer. We roast all the time. It can get below zero here. The insulation in non existant, and there is no weather stripping(much to my complaining) we have to put a blanket in front of the front door to keep the heat in. There are curtains in every apartment, there are NO Blinds, except in the kitchen window. The bathroom is cute. Both bedrooms have the same floor wall heater, below the only window. So much for a comfortable room rearrangement. Large furniture cannot be placed in these rooms besides a bed if you want any room to move around. the window is almost to the middle of the room how can you put a bed or furniture in that little space. the bedrooms are small, but have amazing closets. I cannot complain about closet space. There is a huge hallway and linen closet too. The smaller room of hte two has a small walk-in closet with a carpeted seat. It's about 4x5x8. Perfect for any kid. I also have a problem with the bugs. They don't sparay for bugs here and we are against a forest. We get so many spiders, a product of having to leave the sliding door open (the screen can't keep them out). We also have an ant problem in this complex. The residents were told that the apartments can't be sprayed for bugs, because the spray they use is highly poisonous and could really make us sick. So the bugs run rampant. Outside, on our personal patio, we have a storage closet 4x6x10. We also have an under the stairs closet which is pretty big in the living room. The water heater/storage/coat closet is in the foyer next to the front door. The apartment does not furnish a microwave. Oh yes, inspections, we are subject to inspections whenever the property management company feels like it. They post a notice on your door or mail you an inspection date. If your wages go up so does your rent, up to I think it's 750 or 800 dollars. If you begin to make too much money for subsidized housing you will get a 30 day notice to move. There are 2 laundry rooms on site (a total of 5 washers and 5 dryers) for about 100 apartments. One load is $2.00, that's wash and dry. One of the laundry rooms is locked after 3 pm weekdays and closed completely on weekends. Then 3 washers are available to a couple hundred residents. We always have dirty laundry for this reason. They can never be all done unless you stay up all night, when everyone else is asleep, to do them. There are absolutely NO PETS allowed on the premises. Including birds, reptiles, fish, and visiting animals. I don't even think someone with an assisting pet is allowed to move in because of the strict pet rules. If you have a pet you will be denied an apartment. If you get caught with a pet, you get evicted. Like I said the staff is very helpful and great, but the property management company sucks! I've been in way better conditions. All the rental places and apartments I've seen so far are substandard to other states, and I am shocked that there are not better laws to protect renters from slum lords.
