I lived in the newer addition to the Warewood apartments that were built up the hill on Shantel street for about nine months. The neighborhood is more "upper crust," nice, and very safe. When I moved in, they had just finished building, so everything was brand new, clean and perfect. The rent was $725 for a two bedroom 1000 sq. foot space on the top (third) floor. Looking back, it really was a nice, spacious apartment. Since it was on the top floor, the ceiling in the living room was vaulted very high, so it added a lot of "room." It was also nice to have a gas fireplace, though we never used it and eventually had the maintenance guy turn the gas off. There was a nice, very private balcony with a decent view and small storage space with a locking door. The kitchen was very spacious and wide open. It also came furnished with a new refrigerator and oven. The main bathroom was alright, though I really only used it for showering, because the master bedroom had its own private small bathroom with a toilette and sink. There was also a large walk-in closet in the master bedroom, which was a decent size itself. The second bedroom was a little small, as was the closet. The apartment also came furnished with a washer and dryer in a small closed-off closet in the hallway. The air conditioning was REALLY nice during the hotter months, especially being on the top floor. The neighbors were quiet and kept to themselves. The woman who ran the main office was very professional and friendly, although at the time, you basically had to set up an appointment if you needed to turn something in to her or talk to her in person.

Over all, it was a nice place, and I really don't have that many complaints. But I do have some - For being a "luxury" apartment, the carpeting was absolute crap. It really didn't hold up to our feet. Plus, it's white, so if you have kids, that could become a problem. During the spring and summer, the balcony would be SWARMING with mosquitos that would hang out all night. Also, about a month after I moved in, they began construction on the next building in the complex, which happened to be right outside all of our windows, since our apartment was on the end of our building. It was awful! The construction workers began at 7:00 in the morning Monday through Friday and went until 5:00 pm. The hammering, sawing, yelling, trucks, dropping stuff, and all the other loud machinery really did drive us nuts while we were home. They've finished that building, but I checked up on the apartments recently, and they were starting a third building below the first one. So that might be something to consider before moving in.

Generally, I would recommend it, and if I ever move back to Roseburg, I would consider it again.
