Ineffective management, classic suburbia

I lived here for two years and found it got worse over time. Managers changed frequently, and for the most part they did not act like they cared at all when you brought a complaint (especially noise complaints) or a maintenance request. The neighbors who initially lived below me physically blocked me from leaving one time while they called me a "f*gg*t piece of s***" and accused me of doing things which were physically impossible (such as follow them around the apartment). While I reported it and they admitted to everything, they were still permitted to remain on the grounds despite continued physical intimidation and verbal abuse.

Construction quality was also shoddy. Large cracks from floor to ceiling developed in the drywall and around the ceiling fan despite the building's new age and no unusual treatment to the unit. Some wood supports to a balcony were also dented and broken.

The garbage area was also too small to accomodate everyone's garbage. It routinely overflowed within 2-3 days of being picked up, and residents were given fines despite there being no place for them to put their garbage. Getting to the garbage area (and mailboxes) is also a task due to the unfinished sidewalks. There are places where a sidewalk abruptly ends, and you are faced with the wonderfully beautiful choice of wandering into the traffic between cars (dangerous at night) or walking on a wet dirt hill.

Admittedly this complaint is not entirely the fault of the owners, but the complex is classic suburbia at its finest. No remarkable design or any notable uniqueness, your views face a parking lot, you must drive to get anywhere (even to the closest store), and it is called a "village" but does not resemble one in any fashion of the word. I eventually couldn't stand the place anymore and left, and I am much, much happier with my new apartment.
