Hopefully management has changed...

Years at this apartment: 2000-01-01 - 2000-01-01
I lived at Arbor Heights after it was first built.
It was a great apartment with a fabulous view.
We were one of the first tenants in the N building.
We were lectured endlessly by the office staff about how extensive background and credit checks were done on new tentants.
However, that didn't turn out to be true.
Everyone that moved in after us were teenage kids.
These people had parties every weekend.
Parties with beer bottles being thrown over decks, loud music, yelling, etc.
It was like living in a frat house.
One night there was a fist fight between about 20 guys right out in front of our apartment.
I had to call 911 because they were throwing each other onto the hoods of cars, breaking light poles, etc.
So much for the "extensive" background checks.
Another time I was sitting out on the balcony and five police cars slid into the parking lot sideways and got out with shot guns.
They motioned for me to go into my apartment and hide.
Apparently there was a drug raid going on downstairs.
On Christmas Eve a tenant was murdered in their apartment.
The apartment was taped off with yellow tape for months.
For months, there were bloody handprints all over the window from the person trying to escape as they were knifed to death.
No kidding.
Talk about gruesome.
Moving in:
We had a huge sign over our bedroom window and half of our deck on move in.
(The sign that said the price of a one bedroom apartment) We were told that this sign would be removed but once we started to move in they wanted to leave it up for an additional 2-3 months! We asked for discounted rent, since half of our apartment windows were behind a sign.
Which of course they wouldn't give us.
Absolutely ridiculous! The sign was so big that it completely covered the windows, providing no light and no air.
It was a red sign which resulted in a red apartment on the inside.
Utilities:
At the time, Arbor Heights assisted their new tenants by hooking up the phone, power, etc.
I got hooked up to a number that used to be a fax machine.
Every five minutes there was another incoming fax.
Not too pleasant in the ear everytime you answer the phone.
I had to call the phone company myself to straighten that out, and then the phone company tried to charge me extra to change the number.
Thanks for the help, but next time I'll call the phone company myself!
Hot Water Heater:
On move in the hot water heater element broke and we had no hot water.
They let this go for about a week before finally coming out and fixing it.
I don't know about you, but bathing in cold water for a week is a little much.
Parking lot repairs:
At some point, management decided to re-stripe the parking spaces.
They supposedly put notes on all the cars telling tenants not to park in the spaces on a designated time and day.
We didn't get the notice so what did they do' They brought out tow trucks, forced open the door to our van with a crowbar and forcefully towed our van to another side of the complex.
End result: damages to our vehicle they refused to pay for and coming home to find our van gone and thinking it was stolen.
When we approached the office staff they told us that we needed to, "Calm down...go home and drink a beer.." These were there EXACT WORDS.
Run, don't walk from Arbor Heights!
