The management is the best part of living here.

Oakmont is way better than my last apartment.

My last apartment was in a "corporate" managed property in another city and it sucked because someone miles away was making all the decisions and the local staff was just enforcing them.

They were constantly in everyone's face all the time.

This place is much, much better.

Michelle works really hard for the residents, making sure maintenance is taken care of very quickly and greeting everyone with a smile and sunny disposition.

She's very professional and has basically a "minimal interference" management style, which means that if you respect your neighbors, take care of the place, don't break any laws, and are considerate of those around you, you probably won't hear from her unless you want to.

The property is clean and loaded with older trees that make it lush and green.

I think it used to be an orchard of some kind before they built apartments here.

One of the trees still bears walnuts.

The buildings are well maintained and the upstairs apartments feature things like vaulted ceilings and a fireplace.

Mine has ceiling fans in every room.

I'm told there are options for the color scheme where the renter can choose the color of certain walls, though I didn't take advantage of it.

Washers and dryers are in every apartment.

Mine are in excellent condition.

My dishwasher is a little old, but it still cleans well.

The oven is also a little old, but is well maintained and is self cleaning.

The sink is shallow, but my place has a brand new faucet that's very tall, so it's easier to use.

My counter tops were redone before I moved in and the carpet is brand new.

I really like the colors of both.

The closets in both bedrooms are very large and well organized.

There are heating registers beneath the windows in both bedrooms that I have sort of a love-hate relationship with.

I don't like how I can't put furniture beneath the window in either room, but I LOVE how evenly they heat the room (especially when the door is closed).

It's like a warm blanket on a cold night.

The windows are fairly inefficient, but I think that hanging curtains would do a lot to help them, especially at night.

Some of the units I toured before I moved in had brand new, modern light fixtures and really nice looking cabinets, with wood or stone looking floors in the entryways and kitchen.

The decks are huge.

I love the depth of them and the way they're covered so my stuff isn't constantly getting wet.

There's room to have furniture and still move around out there.

It's going to be good for entertaining, even on rainy days.

Some of the apartments have a grove of trees lining a little stream right outside of them, so from the deck, you get the constant sound of running water and the wind through the tree branches.

A friend of mine has a deck with a view of the entire valley.

It's stunningly gorgeous.

There's a good sized storage closet off of each deck.

There are garages scattered around the property that are about 1 car wide (with plenty of room to open doors on both sides) and deep enough for a fairly long sedan or minivan.

You can store a lot in them.

The property has a pool that looks really good.

There's deck furniture all around it.

I haven't lived here during the summer, but I imagine it's a fun place to hang out.

Should be good for some sun.

Shopping is nearby in two different directions.

In Sherwood (Beef Bend to Roy Rogers), you have just about everything you can imagine; modern movie theater, a lot of restaurants, Tigard, 3 different malls, etc.

If you go the other way down Beef Bend toward Hwy 99, you wind up in Tigard/King City, where there's a beauty supply place, a Supercuts, Hollywood video, Safeway (and two other grocery stores), several different drug stores, discount stores, banks, restaurants, and all kinds of other stuff.

The Tigard library is about 15 minutes away and there's an excellent elementary school on Beef Bend about a mile away.

Hwy 99 is a major road and will take you to Hwy 217, I-5, and to Portland, so while this place is a little off the beaten path, it's still really really well connected and easy to get around to the things you need.

I'm near the back of the community where it's VERY quiet.

I heard two people talking as they were leaving someone's Thanksgiving party once, but I've never heard anything else before or since.

Mostly my neighbors seem to be working folks, retirees, and families that just want to live quietly.

People were bending over backwards helping each other out when we had the snow recently.

They proved to be the kind of people you can count on when it matters.

Oh, and when we had the really bad storms in December and the power went out, the power company had us up and running in around 3 hours, where the people across the street were unplugged for about 3 days.

Apparently, Oakmont has priority or something.

Even if we didn't, all of the upstairs apartments have fireplaces, so heating wasn't a problem.
