On moving into my apartment, I paid, in money orders $2400 in deposits, fees, and rent. The lease was signed, and I moved in. Over a month later, they contacted me through a piece of paper stuck to my door, telling me I owed them $200 in deposits. Being a single parent, and had been working 2 jobs, some of the money to pay my move in costs came from family and friends. I could not find the receipt in which they were talking about, but the lease clearly showed that I had paid all of my move in costs.

The main manager discussed the issue with me, and told me it would be taken care of, and not to worry about paying it. Several weeks later, I started receiving phone calls at work, asking me why I had not paid or made an attempt to set up a payment plan. They began calling more frequently, harrassing me, until I brought in the friend who was witness to all of my costs being paid. They said that they would get back to me in no less than 3 days. A week went by, and they started the harrassing calls again.

A lease is a legally binding document. They signed the document stating I paid all of my costs, and were trying to negotiate my deposits being returned to me when my lease comes up for renewal. I had to bring in a parent (I am very young and the manager laughed at me) to handle my situation. Had to threaten to take him to court and press charges for harrassment. 4 months after moving in, the issue was finally taken care of and the money credited back to my account.

I have also had many problems with their parking. I was told upon moving in, that parking was no issue, and I even paid for a spot. Their records are so shotty, that it took them over a month to finally place me in a spot. I was also told that if anyone parks there, I am able to have them towed, as according to the lease, it is my property. Have come home several times to someone parked in my spot, unable to do anything because the manager said I had to notify them, and give it 24hours before the person can be towed. Had to walk my infant, from the far parking lot, back to my apartment, in the pouring rain, after shopping for groceries.

I would never recommend this apartment! Not because the apartment isn't nice, but because management needs to get a handle on the situation.

I totally agree with the poor management. They truly don't care. I've called on quite a few things and they act like they care but nothing gets done. Also the maintenance staff SUCKS. When we called because our kitchen light went out and I told them it wasn't the light bulbs, they sent a guy out who promptly changed the light bulbs. The problem was the transformer thingy that powers the bulbs. So, 10 minutes later, I was cooking in the dark again. I had to call the managers office back again and tell them what happened and what the problem really is. My husband is the ultimate handyman (he's a farm kid with an engineering degree) which means he can fix anything. He's far better then the yahoos that Rivercrest hires. So the yuts came back and fixed that transformer. They can't do anything right the first time. They replaced a stair wrong the first time. They had to come back and fix it. My neighbors drag the bag of kitty litter down the stairs leaving a trail of kitty litter and kitty poop. I've told the managers and NOTHING has been done. And quite frankly I feel like they look down on us apartment people. This is the very reason why I'm working on buying a house and breaking my lease. The sooner I get out of here, the better.

I completely agree with you about your assessment of RiverCrest Meadows. I used to be a resident that that apartment community and I chose to move due the unprofessionalism of the management staff. The management staff have a pattern of saying on thing to your face and doing another thing behind your back. They never enforce rules that they set out for the residents and get upset when you need maintenance at your apartment. They will come up with any way to do a "Half Ass" job of the repairs. If I were you, I would find another place to live as soon as you are able. It will only get worse!
