Beware!
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 9/4/2003
Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003
Its been well over a year now and I've finally given my notice after this nightmare of a lease has ended.
On the surface, things looks nice. The grounds are well maintained for the most part, there is a pool and a playground, and the management holds a community picnic every year. However, there's is a dark side to this place that isn't revealed until you move in.
Many of these apartments have serious mold issues. There are folks who are talking about filing lawsuits against this property because they are not dealing with the issues properly and people are getting sick.
Laundry rooms are not well maintained. The dryers rarely dry, there's debris everywhere, and some don't even have lights in them to see at night.
Police are constantly coming through here for some reason or another. Loud parties, problem children, and domestic disputes seem to be a majority of the calls.
I've had my cars broken into at least once each, and even had one stolen. People have "mistakenly" walked into my apartment, and I often have many of the Mexican people coming to my door soliciting money for some family member they are trying to bring here.
Maintainence is awful, and I'm still waiting for things to be repaired that should have been ages ago. The only prompt response I've had was when one of the lighting fixtures actually fell from the ceiling.
The pool is currently growing a green algea across the bottom and is not being cleaned. People who have complained about it get told "its like swimming in a pond". Its quite disgusting, and even has an oily film across the top of the water. Slime often grows on the concrete area around the pool making it quite slippery and dangerous.
The children here are terrible, disrupting traffic, disrespecting other tenants, throwing rocks at cars, bullying other children. For those interested in bringing children here, be warned. Our community is served by one bus that is litterally called "the trouble bus" by the local elementary school. Be prepared to be ill treated by the school staff if they find out you live here. Your children will be treated as troublemakers from day one, even if they are not.
Complaints are often ignored unless it gives them an excuse to pick on tenants they don't like. Dogs locked on upper floor balcony are left to urinate and deficate while the owners are at work, which falls through to the floors beneath. Noise complaints are ignored unless its so late at night you can call the police directly. Drug dealings take place, and there's even our own complex hooker to strolls the lot at night.
Wiring is an issue, with many of the outlets being faulty and it doesn't take much to cause breakers to flip or cause power surges. Computer users beware (also should note that not all apartments here can get DSL access so be sure to ask). Some outlets spark, others are so loose cords fall out as soon as they are plugged in.
The rent price does seem to be a bargain, especially with many of the move in specials and lease renewal specials they run. But, remember, you get what you pay for, and this place shows it.
There is so much more I could say against this place, but I think I've given enough detail to paint a clear picture. Have no illusions. This place is awful and I'm sorry I've ever moved here.
