These apartments were built in the 70's I think, and are defiantly showing their age. Not the worse that is out there, but not the greatest either.
The parking is absolutely the worse part of this complex. There is hardly anything. Every apartment gets one assigned space, and the rest is visitor parking. It's fine if you only have one car, but if you have more than one vehicle you are pretty much screwed. During the weekdays there is quite a bit of extra parking while everyone is at work. But after about 4:00 pm in the afternoon it becomes difficult to find a lot. And almost impossible to find parking after like 5 or 6. Weekends are hard too. And if you do get lucky and find a spot, it's usually way across the complex and you have to walk 5 miles just to get to your apartment. Sometimes people park in your place and you have to call a tow truck. The worst part is that if you come home late and there is no parking available, there is nothing close (stores, neighborhoods, ect) to park your car in as a last resort. There is a medical office parking lot right next to it, but you get towed if you park there. My roommate and I were constantly having to juggle our cars around so we could go places and then have a parking spot when we came home. I always felt like I could never go anywhere after a certain point in the day because I did not want to lose my visitor space. Very frustrating. The passageways in the parking lot are pretty narrow. Sometimes people will park temporarily out in the middle. And it's hard to get around when they are blocking.
There is no place for all of the kids play really, so they just play in the parking lot. Most of the time there are no parents to be found anywhere either. They just run around unsupervised doing whatever. They play ball and ride their bikes and stuff right in the middle of the parking lot. I've seen cars hit by basketballs before. I've almost plowed down a kid that riding a toddler bike down the hill and I couldn't see him when I came around the corner. You have to be super careful and alert when you drive through there. It gets pretty noisy too when all the kids start playing right below your apartment. They walk through the parking lot and sometimes don't move out of the way when you are trying to drive by them. With all the kids, the ice cream trucks come every day. There are like four different ones that drive through playing loud, annoying music. sometimes they stay for a long time and you have to hear that stupid music for several minutes until it goes away. The staff has to supervise the bus stop every morning to keep older kids from causing trouble.
There are always people just hanging out in the parking lot. There are always cars coming and going. Sometimes it's like a traffic jam. There are a lot of crime and break-ins. You would see police cars there quite a bit. My car got tagged two times by someone writing in lipstick (thank goodness it wasn't paint).
The complex is near the freeway, so you got a lot of freeway noise.
The grounds are actually not too badly maintained. They do ok for what they have to work with. There is a small green area in the middle of complex with a little play area for kids. But it's not very big. The rest is basically just flower beds and shrubbery. The buildings are very close together, and can kind of feel cramped. Not a lot of space between buildings.
The office staff changed quite often. Every time I would call the office for something, I would talk to a different person. Most of the times they would not be able to answer my questions because they were new, and had to get back to me later.
Rent increased quite a bit every time the lease was up.
The apartments themselves were just passing at best. There is absolutely no storage in them at all. Just small closets in the bedrooms and a linen closet. We had all of our stuff stacked against the wall in the living room. The apartments are pretty stuffy. You would have to open the windows frequently to air it out. The insulation was poor and it was hard maintaining a steady temperature. They replace appliances, carpets, cabinets, ect as needed after each residence. Every apartment is a little different in that respect. You get kind of a mix of older and newer things depending on what went on before you moved in. The pet security deposit is very high at 400.00. But all in all, our apartment unit was not too bad. I've heard there are worse though there though.
IF you are looking for something a little cheaper, and are willing to tolerate some of these things, then you probably would be ok there. It worked for us at the time. But I am happy that I left. It was getting a little old after awhile. SROlYjGrgm2VnM-SactV
