Move Out Costs Terrible

The move out costs here are OUTRAGEOUS and they do not disclose the particulars until you have no way to do anything about it.
If you are even considering moving here, you should know the move-out procedure. You give your 30 days notice and then they sit down and tell you that it will cost you:
--$100 for a professional cleaner
--$80 for a prof carpet cleaning
--up to $130 to repaint.
We even put a security deposit down, but - GET THIS - they charge "administrative fees" if you have them take the cleaning from the security deposit! So it ends up costing you more. If you want to try and clean it yourself you get a three page list and are told that even if you spend all the time to meet their ridiculous cleaning requirements, they are still going to send a professional out. If they have to do anything, you will get charged anyway.
When you move in they just tell you the apartment has to be returned in the same condition you received it, etc., etc. They give you a "Wear & Tear vs Damage" checklist. They disclose NOTHING about the mandatory fees when you move out.
When we first moved in we knew it was an older apartment and that there are some drawbacks to that. What we weren't prepared for was the overwhelming feel that the apartment is falling apart! The cabinets are disgusting - one of mine has rotted out twice. It is poorly maintained and repaired.
I have never been so happy to move!

This totally sucks! But, it is to be expected since I have been lied to and threaten to have my rent raised on me since the day I moved in. Talked with other tenants and they all have the same type of horror stories to tell.

all I have to say to you is... buy a house.
you are renting someone elses property, its not your place. if you cant handle it buy your own place, then you can pay to fix everything on your own. :)

Those sound like pretty typical pricing for move out expenses. My brother owns a maintenance company and they charge about $150-200 for painting an apt, $80-150 for apt cleaning and $50-$75 for carpet steam cleaning. Its more expensive to turn over apartments than most people think. In addition its hard to disclose pricing when you move in because if you move out, 6 years later the pricing is obviously going to be different. Paint, cleaning supplies, etc go up in price like everything else. Administrative fees should only be charged if it is written into a Rental Agreement though.

When we moved in it wasn't painted or the carpets cleaned. It stunk and we were foolish enough to think we could fix it with a little febreze. CTL is the problem!
