I am of a generation where we feel like we need a mansion, a corvette, and a 4,000 pay check. So- that said, when I first took a look at Todd Village I was pretty discouraged: They are older, less insulated, possible lead in the paint, etc... On the other hand, they are large, well lighted (second floor), and comfortable.

My husband and I have been here for about a month, and these are the things we think people should know:

There are fees for everything, some expected, some not:
Rent
W/S/G
Internet/Cable/Phone
Washer/Dryer
Electricity
Pets

Maintenance hasn't been the best experience- if you can do a good job on your own- do it yourself. If you are ok with asking multiple times and having to accomodate their schedule, they fix it eventually. (We've only been here a month and there've been quite a few things- but its an old place)

We are concerned with the management office, in our move-in/approval rather than one person handling our situation, there were 5. That's pretty confusing. We had a good experience with 2 employees, the others gave us information that was incorrect and almost caused us to change our minds.

As far as space goes-
The kitchen is very small- its only two of us and there's not enough room for dishes (etc...), appliances, and food. We had to buy two large book shelves and place them next to the kitchen.

The bathroom offers no counter space, but its a bathroom and does its job.

The rest of the apt is very large, the bedrooms are good sized, the living room is very LARGE, and there are many closets and storage options.

We also like our deck very much.

Oh- there's only a few ceiling lights, its the old style, where you buy lamps instead- just a heads up.


Overall, I'd rate our experience moving in a C/C-. Our satisfaction with the apt is a B/B .

just wait until winter comes, you will freeze your butt off. and watch for the hood rats, they will break in to your car. if you think that place is good you must be insane, its a rip off and I wouldnt tell anyone that it is a good place it reminds me off a welfare dump
