My first experience with Miraval was extremely pleasant. They were open late on a Saturday evening, and I put down my screening fee on a Sunday.
I m on my 4th month here, and I m pretty happy with the place. As far as apartments go, I doubt things could get better. (Except for perhaps the price) This place is the Great Room architecture, which means there s a HUGE main room living room/kitchen combo, but the auxiliary rooms (bedrooms) are a little small.
Pros: Everything is NEW! Huge over-sized washer and dryer Gigantic bathrooms Master bedroom has a massive walk-in closet The colors/styles are very attractive Staff is friendly and professional Verizon FIOS in every unit (No more Comcast crap) Dog Walking Area is very large The Kitchen is huge, and is quite nice Very high Square Footage (mine is 1023) Very quiet I very rarely hear my neighbors Most people are a little older, less noise and such Open 7 days a week 24 hour guaranteed maintenance response
Cons: Parking sucks. No Debate. People let their dogs crap beside your bedroom window Lots of people park in 2 spaces, with already limited parking If you re on the ground floor, people tend to shine headlights in your windows at night, and sit there for a long time. Back patio is a little small Storage on patio/balcony is very small Probably Haunted - Old Dammasche Site NO APPROPRIATE PLACE FOR A DINING ROOM
Overall, I doubt you ll find better in an apartment.
------ Edit - Management has actually done something about the dog poop - they've made vaguely threatening statements in a mailing that went to everyone, and have put up bags people can use to pick up the dog poop. The parking has gotten significantly worse as the apartments fill up.
I've learned the staff are instructed to tell prospective residents that the parking is quite ample - since most people are looking during lunch breaks, or otherwise during the day, there are a few empty parking spaces which creates the illusion of available parking. The staff will also deny to existing residents that there exists a parking issue, even though people have taken to parking their cars in the grass in places. The parking here is criminal.
This place shows evidence of people spending lots of money on nice stuff, and having it installed by incompetents. After living here for awhile I've found places where the carpet wasn't installed properly, leaving wrinkles and tears, the linoleum wasn't done right, and is cut wrong, so it tears, painting was done poorly, ect, ect, ect. The sprinkler system still doesn't work right, so it will randomly come on at say noon, and leaves all the plants with burns...
Everyone here seems to be very nice, although when not dealing directly with you - IE how the park, drive, throwing garbage away, they are selfish and otherwise stupid. There are kids running around unsupervised, that have the tendency to run out from between the cars parked on the side of the road, in front of you - even at 25 you have to slam on your brakes. Very frustrating. First month of utilities was 12 dollars. Now it's about 55 - all because people here don't recycle, and throw garbage and everything else in the recycling. Bah.
... Although i still recommend the place...

I live here at Miraval. Moved in early 2008 when most apartments were empty. I was pleased to see you note the exact problems that we want to move for. Riverstone needs to acknowledge that we have a problem here and it gets worse every month. As more apartments fill and winter sets in, paying $1000.00 plus for an aparment you have to hike to from your car is not going to cut it. Parking is the worst and mgmt denies a problem, they recently came up with a "fix" for parking where residents have permits..big deal now we have a permit to dangle from our rear view mirror on the few occasions we actually get to park in the parking lot. The garbage is a huge problem...we pay more because there aren't enough dumpsters. These are very nice apartments in a safe area but they are over priced and poorly planned out. I wish I knew a year ago what I know know about the Miraval illusion. Clearly the whole thing worked in someone's mind and that is about it.
