Poor Management

When I first talked to the manager, she did not ask me when I wanted to move in or how many bedrooms I wanted; she immediately said, "I'd have to look, but I don't think we have anything available anytime soon," and then didn't look. (I am a clean, well-groomed person, so I don't know what it was she didn't like about me on sight.) She handed me a 'For Rent' book for the PDX area and sent me on my way. I fumed for 24 hours, then went back to give her a piece of my mind, but she wasn't there. Instead, I talked to a friendly, helpful woman who helped me go through the rental process. Unfortunately, I have been dealing with the OTHER manager for the majority of my time here. She mixed me up with another tenant who was moving in the same month, and wrote her move-in date on my forms, but no one bothered to call me until 10 days AFTER that date; she also added a "roommate" that didn't exist to my form.
When my 12-year-old dog chewed up two sets of blinds, she was not the least bit understanding (not even after I had to put my dog to sleep a month later), and harassed me about paying for replacement blinds for ONE of the two windows (why not the other one, too''). I refused to pay, stating that it wasn't an eyesore (I removed the damaged blinds), others had damaged blinds and screens, and I had payed both a security deposit and a pet deposit; eventually, I caved, but after I payed, I didn't hear anything from her. I still don't have replacement blinds, and when I went to talk to her about it, she gave me the brush-off.
Also, I don't have a car, so this manager ASSUMED that it would be okay if someone else parked in my spot - she never even mentioned it to me! For several weeks, I thought that neighbor was a presumptive jerk! This wouldn't be a big deal, except that my friends have to park on the street when they come over, despite the fact that I technically have a parking space.
The place was so dirty when I moved in that I spent days cleaning my kitchen and bathrooms; the shower doors are NOT frosted - they are just crusted with years of limescale and soap scum. They also failed to clean out the drawer under the oven - it was full of the last tenant's crumbs and chunks of petrified food.
The trash compactor is on the other side of the complex from me, and this is inconvenient; I could deal with that, but the outbuilding for the compactor smells SO bad that you have to hold your breath before you even get to the doorway. Also, management won't even spring for some fly tape to get rid of the hundreds of flies that have been swarming in there since Spring.
There is more, but I think that you get the picture. I will be moving to another complex as soon as my lease is up - I'm already packing!
