Horrible Renting Experience

First, management is very unfriendly and condescending. Customer service is not their thing. They simply want your money and for you to go away (Deborah is an exception). Most written communications are authoritative and insulting. Some of their practices are not in keeping with Oregon law or any other state that I have rented in.
There are stray/outdoor cats roaming the complex continuously urinating on anything and everything they can, including your property kept on the patio.
The dumpsters are very scary with garbage spilling from every side with an accompanying smell that permeates the entire complex when the wind is right.
The buildings were constructed without noise reduction. Every footstep and voice can be heard through the walls.
There is no enforcement of speeding on the complex streets. The kids playing are very vulnerable. If there is an accident, there could be a real tragedy. This note is to assure someone knows that this is a historic problem.
There are a number of apartments occupied by several men working laborer jobs. You draw your own conclusion.
The bottom line, this is a simple formula; looks great from the outside, the reality is a slummy horror show. If you are not desperate for an apartment do not choose Village at Main Street. You will be managed by slumlords and treated like you live in a tenement.

I live in the apartments, very close to kids running around EVERYWHERE. It is VERY annoying, especially when I need my sleep (I work odd hours) and have kids screaming outside nonstop. Some of the kids who are running around near my unit are the maintenance guy's kids...so I think they could get away with it... it's not fair.

If I could afford a house in the country, I sure wouldn't be renting...... Yes, VMS is beautiful cosmetically, ( that is one of the reasons we liked it, very country - like, and thought it was QUIET..) but that doesn't justify the underlying issues. Would you really like having almost constant noise from 8 am to almost 11pm above you, most days ? How about not being able to hear your own TV, or hold a conversation with your family ? And I didn't mention that when this started months ago, that the kids upstairs shook my kitchen wall so hard that it knocked a picture off and shattered the glass ? .......... The Mgr. knew about that one too, and did nothing. I finally had to talk to the neighbor myself, and it still goes on......... I may sound like a real complainer to some, but when we pay over $1100 a mo., plus other expenses, for less than desirable living, it really is not fair that things are not taken care of, and I shouldn't have to worry about my children's safety either.... We definately will not be renewing our lease here.
