Never Expected to be So Disappointed

Upon walking in to the Summit you will find beautiful grounds and a friendly staff. The apartments are modern, spacious and give the appearance of being clean. Never have I found the saying âLooks Can Be Deceivingâ more true than here. First the apartments are not so clean although you are slammed with a $175 redecoration fee (which is really for a no name van to come vacuum and an overworked lady to come clean). The paint and all other âdecorationâ are done by the previous tenant or you when you move out unless you want to lose your deposit. There is a fee for a ânew tenant screeningâ which there in no way can be done in just 10 minutes after offices are closed. These are just the beginning of policies that seemingly protect the tenants, but actually give you a sense of false security. There are breaks to cars (several within a year) and the staff sends letters to have you run your water (fan, heat etc.) through out the day so that the buildingâs pipes wonât be damaged, but the tenant pays the bill just the same. The rent is fairly high you can pay over a $1,000 and $20 if you want a covered parking space close to your apartment. If you do chose the covered parking spot it is up to you to let the people in the building know that youâve rented it for them or their guests not to use it. If someone does take your spot you have to call the office for someone to come put a warning sticker on their car, but you still donât get the spot you paid for. If your apartment happens to be close to the mailbox and trash disposal facility you will be happy not to have to take your trash in your car or long walks in the cold or rain. However be aware that cars get rear ended in this area because it is highly trafficked. Also due to the traffic you will find that light will shine straight into one of your bedrooms and you will need to make adjustments in order to not be annoyed. The most disappointing thing that happens in the Summit is that your privacy is not yours. The apartments are built with very thin materials. I could actually hear my upstairs neighbor getting up at in the middle of the night, my downstairs neighborâs dogs barking throughout the day and night and the next door neighborâs TV and private conversations. When maintenance comes to clean up an apartment get ready to dance to their tune (the radio will be on for your enjoyment or annoyance). If you happen to have a hyper active child living above you with inconsiderate parents get ready to go to sleep with a migraine every night and awaken whenever they wish for you to get up by. Trying to get management to help gets little, slow or no results depending on many factors and forget about giving up and letting them be until their lease expires (as I did), because when the next one comes it wonât matter if they have a zoo the staff just wants to fill in the empty apartment no matter what the cost to you. After all you have signed a lease and they will not allow you to get out early even if you are sleep deprived, extremely unhappy and they have documented proof from getting the staff to come to your place to verify the situations. Weâve had to move out early and still had to pay rent for an empty apartment and the one we had to move to. Our sanity is worth more money than another month of deceit, anguish and no sympathy. We let our eyes deceive us and now our family, health and pockets have paid the price.
