I still like it here

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2006
I've been living here for about 2 1/2 years with my boyfriend, and we still really really like it! We only had one noise problem with our neighbor with his loud bass music, but we just asked him to tone it down and we have never had a problem with it since. We think the walls are pretty good except in the bathroom, but its really no big deal to us. The sound leaks out through the front door into the hallway pretty easily, but we've found that once you're inside your apartment the noise gets silenced.
The most vandalism I've seen is that someone stole the number signs off of Apt 420's door (har har), and sometimes people write things like "Emmaus '01" or their initials on the walls, and sometimes people leave trash here and there. Maintenance will almost always have these things fixed/cleaned up within a few days.
We've had to call mainenance up a few times for minor things, and every time they've been very nice and cleaned up after themselves, so no complaint there. Even if you call them for emergency maintenance problems on off-hours they will show up within the half hour and act like they are very happy to help you, even if you obviously tore them away from their dinners.
Having incoming and outgoing mail right in the building is fantastic, the vending machine in the basement is awesome for when you run out of drinks and dont feel like going to the store, the courtyard/tennis courts/indoor bball court/pool is nice to have, and the apartments themselves are nice looking with the HUGE windows and high ceilings. Also, this is one of the few rentals in the area that allow you to have 2 cats.
As far as the local area....ok its not the best, but its not the worst either. The building is basically a giant concrete fortress so we feel very safe here despite the area. This place is a whole heck of a lot better and safer than when I lived in Trexlertown...which I think says a lot about this community considering its in a rougher part of Allentown!
Building is kept very clean, and there are NO BUGS! (yay!)
And yes I'll agree that the previous manager that just left us was less than great...I was terrified of her, lol. Bill is MUCH better and MUCH nicer so far!
The negatives' The apartments are small...but there are cheap storage units in the basement you can rent to help out with clutter. Our applicances are older, but like I said, maintenance is quick to fix anything. Having to share a balcony is a little awkward, but you'll find that you'll probably either become friends with your balcony-mates, or you'll wind up just using it at opposite times anyway. And of course, the area leaves a bit to be desired.
All in all we love this place, and we will most likely stay here until we buy a house or leave the area.
Theres my novel folks, take it as you will :)
