First of all, let's get the obvious out in the open. The place is old! Everything about it reminds you of the good old '60; from the antique looking elevators, to the old appliances, and ancient air conditioners, which haven't been updated in more than 40 years. The place recently got a cable and sprinkler system upgrade, which is a plus, but other than that, I d skip on this place. The condition at regency towers slowly started to deteriorate to the point where I had to pick up and go (in 2 months). It all started with a pest invasion; mice everywhere. I was catching an average of 3 mice per night. Roaches and other bugs are also an issue, they manage to squeeze through the cracks in the foundation, and somehow make it inside the apartment. The old dishwasher blew up the 1st time I used it, and it was never replaced after that; the air conditioner in my bedroom started making strange noises, and eventually exploded in a cloud of smoke; we had to wait 3 days in the middle of August to get that thing replaced. The washer/dryer combo is adequate, but it s located in unventilated closet, and when you start drying your clothes, not only is the lint flying all over the closet, but it heats up in excess of 100 degrees; I sometimes have to wait between loads in order to have the place properly ventilated, until I resume drying, as it will set off the smoke alarm. The walls are paper thin, I hear my neighbors all the time; my neighbors walking in the apartment above me, and my neighbors urinating in the apartment bathroom right next to mine, because you see, every apartment in the building is joined at the bathroom/bedroom level. It's not a pleasant experience to go into your bathroom and hear you neighbor brushing his teeth. The window insulation is nonexistent, and they actually put a 2nd set of windows on top of the old ones, I guess a while back, but that doesn't resolve the problem, so if there is a strong winter storm, your apartment becomes extremely cold, and I'm talking low 50's and upper 40's cold, as the wind easily sips through the windows right into your apartment; even when lying on my bed at night I could feel the breeze with every gust of the wind! The radiator system in the apartment is bad. You can't control it! It's either too hot, or too cold. There is no in between! At least 1 elevator is always out of service; they just have to replace them both; and for the elevator which is in service you have to wait for at least 2-3 minutes (if not more) each morning. The exercise room is worthless, it has 2 broken treadmills, and 1 exercise machine, which they recently bought. The pool is OK, but the hours are short, and it s always overcrowded. The tennis court is never cleaned, it has leaves and tree debris all over it; the surface is uneven and it has some serious foundation cracks. The fence around the tennis court has cracks and holes in it; we lost majority of our tennis balls that way. Due to the recent cable/sprinkler system upgrade, I have wires and orange pipes running all over my apartment, and they are yet to be properly covered. During this upgrade, several contracting companies were given access to my apartment numerous times; they drilled holes everywhere; I had dirt all over the floors, on my clothes, in the kitchen. I had scheduled and unscheduled visits; sometimes they would notify me that they would come, and sometimes I d come home after work, and find my door unlocked. I complained to management, but to no avail. Moreover, during several visits I found that some of my stuff disappeared; they would steal little things like cables, batteries, and food; yes food! I would discover cans of cola in my trash, and packaged food opened in my fridge, which I just bought. Sometimes I would find my remote control in different places; it seems those contractors would come to do the work, and watch some TV. On the brighter note, this place is cheap, it has flexible leases, and it has a doorman. Other than that, it s not all it s cracked up to be! Would I recommend this place' Maybe a year or two ago, but not now. uWDgQKY3Vkv8FKIsB8Ax

I'm glad we aren't the only ones who think this exact same thing. We had thing stolen as well, but were told by the supervisor that we were the only ones and it must have been friends. What a load of "you know what!"

100% accurate. In the summer the place is akin to a sweat box used by the Vietcong in Vietnam. Pool hours are absurd. I was told the exercise room was open 24/7 -- it's not. The sauna is nice but complete crap. The first time I turned it on it sounded like I switched on a nuclear reactor then took nearly an hour warming up tot he point of actual use! and it's not THAT cheap. You pay $35 to the building for cable, but also full price to RCN. Really see that being WRONG. They are still working on the sprinkler system. The trick is to be HOME when they come in that way they actually WORK instead of slack off for freebies. The building took bid for this work and took the most expensive offer and they just outfitted the lobby which ow looks like Bob Newhart's office.

Just an update. Today fire alarms started going off randomly all over the building; almost gave me a heart attack. People gathered in the lobby thinking the building is on fire. Management? Nowhere to be seen. 1 month to go.

Of course management is nowhere to be seen. Maintenance? They are in the basement smoking or screwing off somewhere.

Yes firealarm is loudest and most awful sound i ever heard! and they don't turn it off right away. Nothing aggravated me more than coming home to a house full of men when nobody told me they would be there. i am so happy to be out of that horrible place. There was a tenant that suspiciously had a $3,000 phone bill to Puerto Rico and she didn't even know anyone there. but management refused to believe that any of the staff used her phone? very weird place.
