Pluses and Minuses - Overall NOISY!

Minuses:
Extremely noisy from our own apartment's floors, noise through walls to the squeaky and clunky hardwood floors upstairs (which is the worst). Construction pretty much goes on from 7AM to late in the evening. Noise from planes, neighbors, etc... we were worried about our dog barking once in a while, but that is just a drop in the bucket.
The office staff seems pretty friendly, one woman truly has a major attitude. Most times I've gone over to the office they are in locked door meetings or something.
We were led astray by telling us that we had "extra storage space". Each unit of about 48 apartments shares a common storage space at the end of each building (one 5'x5' concrete room. That is the extra storage, not like most people expect. Rent is high. If you are exiting or entering on Springhouse expect to bottom out your car 9 times out of 10. Although pets are allowed... they are making a killing off of your dog. $200 non refundable deposit plus $50/mo. = $800 /yr. non refundable even if you leave your apartment in perfect condition. That seems a little expensive when all they are doing is providing you with "poopy bags."
Being very knitpicky, but they installed the cable jacks in the living room facing the sliding doors and layed out the living room (so you can never watch tv) and the sunset makes it 100x worse.
Pluses:
Beautiful Trexler Park is right outside your door. Wegmans is within walking distance (a little pricey, but you can find everything you could possibly want). You are really in the middle of everything, a couple of minutes from every store, restaurant, service you could possibly want. The kitchen upgrades are nice and the washer/dryer although small, do a very nice job. We were able to bring our dog. Most tenenants seem friendly. Garbage and recycling are extremely close. Has a fitness center, computer room (locked down to the max/printer never works, but it is still a computer room), two pools (hopefully they are not extra, but I have a feeling they are). Plenty of parking (until the new buildings are finished).
Conclusion:
Despite the pluses we hope to be able to afford a house or find a better apartment by the time our lease is up. We can't take the noise.

Update - Construction noise is no longer a problem. Upstairs neighbors are the worst... walking around all hours of the night creaking and cracking, they walk like they're 500lbs and are wearing size 24 tap shoes. I tried working it out with the tenant myself since the office won't/can't do anything. They just told us to call the cops. I'm sure they want to be bothered with something like that. What are they going to do? The creep even had the nerve to send us a note asking us not to bang on the ceiling at 12:30 at night... well, hello... obviously I'm doing it because you are walking around while we are trying to sleep. Duh. "Its the neighbors next to us," he says. I don't think so buddy. The best is when their buddies come over and stand around in the same spot and shift their weight. Constant creaking, it's beautiful. Don't want to rant on, but it is the only way to vent.

Do not rent here. It's too high priced and the staff is constantly sending out threating notices about this or that. The garbage dumpster is in a centralized location (they used to have one outside of each building but removed these) that is by the old apartments so you basically have to drive your garbage to dispose of it. If you leave it outside your door overnight to take it the next morning on your way to work you will get a warning notice that you are in voilation of your lease and if it happens again, you could be evicted. However, there are no notices for people out on their decks at 2am keeping everyone up - or throwing cigarettes off their balconies onto the grass of the 1st floor apartments. The office staff doesn't do a thing about things like that. This apartment complex is owned by a big company out of NJ -and the bottom line is that it's their way or the highway. They basically don't care how the tenants feel. Although the layout of the apartment is nice because they are new - I would strongly advise not to rent here. For the same price you could rent a single family home!! Many people here are waiting for their lease to expire so they can leave.

I absolutely agree. I just moved in and already I hate it. The ceilings are extremely thin and when the upstairs neighbors walk it sounds like elephants and that the ceiling will cave any minute. You can only imagine what it sounds like when they run and jump and stomp. I am waiting for my lease to be up, then I am so out of here. Don't rent here it's not worth it.
