First off this complex only offers efficiencies and one bedrooms so if you're looking for something bigger, its not here. Otherwise, the size is okay for one person.
I've lived in two apartments in this complex for the past 2 1/2 years. Under previous management I had a refrigerator nightmare which I learned after an expensive battle that I could have saved myself the money had I taken it out of rent when the problems occured. They do not offer frost free refrigeration and my refrigerator broke down. I had an awful time trying to get it replaced or repaired so I went and bought my own refrigerator since they failed to provide a properly working one. Later I found they simply put the refrigerator in another unit, never fixed. I had a small problem with ants in the first apartment, but that was quickly addressed and never had a problem after that. Yes the walls are quite thin. I could clearly hear everyone's computer, television and applianced to either side and above me. And there is that train issue. It can get quite loud. Most of the time its screeching like running nails on a chalkboard and the banging of violent thunder. Of course, thats just something you choose to ignore as a tenant. We've since moved to a different building with a larger space. I've no complaints except when all the floodings began. So far, we've had 9 floodings. The carpet is damaged, moldy. The flooring in the kitchen is destroyed and all of this was new when we moved in. This has been occuring since approx. April of this year when we moved in. The flooring started lifting soon after it was layed down. We've been round and round with management about it. Only on one occasion have they sent a professional out to clean the carpets. The other occasions we've rented a rug doctor from the local supermarket. The disintegrated carpet in front of the door has been cut away since mid summer and a bare concrete floor remains since then. The wood holding the carpet completely dissolved. We continuously are being told the carpet will be removed and new tile layed down when supplies arrive, but no one ever shows up. Twice someone has been by to analyse the situation and measure the area. Still nothing is done. Last month we called the Allentown Department of health. The representative from Allentown called me and stated that management is waiting for the supplies to arrive. With our newborn daughter, we are very concerned for the well being of her and ourselves. Where the carpet used to be are large holes leading to the outside where bugs enter. We had a lot of problems with bugs this past summer. The parking area has been without proper lighting for over a month and currently is still without. Cars have been broken into and there is absense of lighting along the handicap ramp to my apartment (of which I am handicap). During the snow season thus far, no one has come to shovel our walkway or salt the area. A plow comes by pushing all the snow against the dumpster bin, blocking the back of all the cars in. Handicap parking spaces are just too small. Management seems to want to work with you, but its all just promises. Maintenance', don't be surprised if several trips are required to fix the something. Finally, as a last resort we have hired an attorney to address the issues so the rest remains to be seen. Happy hunting elsewhere renters!!!
