I am A longtime resident of Evergreen Manors. I have lived here for 36 years and have seen many changes. My home here is no different than any other community in Altoona or anywhere else. There is no more crime,drugs,violence,or gangs than any other neighborhood. Just check out Mondays crime reports in the Altoona Mirror. As for trying to bettter our community,We here at Evergreen Manors have taken the initiative to do just that. We have Security Guards and cameras,Along with flood lights,and crime watch. We have newly remodled apartments inside and out,all new heaters,stoves,refridgerators and more. We have put a great deal of time and money into new sidewalks,landscaping,parking lots,and windows,siding. We have on site laundry facilities. We have a Supportive Services Program,an After School Program,A GED Program and much much more. The School bus even pulls into the parking area to pick up and drop off the children so nobody gets hit. We have had the same Manager for 25 years so my theory is ,she must know her job well. We also have a full time maintenance staff who mow,plow , shovel snow, clean halls and laundry rooms.
So in a nutshell I'd say we here at Evergreen have it made .
