Renter's Beware!

Many of these apartments are riddled with large imperfections, the maintenance person rarely repairs any problems. There are 2 sinkholes in the lawns facing Belmont avenue where old oil tanks had been removed. Many of the apartments have mold contamination which has not been addressed. While utilities are included, if you choose to have an air conditioner (There is no central air), there is a charge of $300 per air conditioner. The apartments have no control over their heat (it is controlled at the heater itself in a locked area of the buildings), and is often extremely hot during the winters. The quality of the water thoughout the apartments is pathetic at best, if you plan on drinking water, I would recommend bottled water. If you have drop ceilings in any of the rooms of an apartment you're looking into, look for mold! Most of the storage facilities are very poorly lit and rather damp. Parking is very difficult to come by even though they have 2 lots (but not even enough parking for 1 car per unit). Many of the buildings have cracks through the buildings, all the way down to their foundations. Most of the buildings basements will flood to various extents during heavy rain, and many of the drains are clogged up. In the courtyard, there is a brick patio, which is cordoned off as one side of it is ready to collapse. The new owners of the property have been systematiclly removing/evicting tenants who have lived here for any period of time, so they can get the higher rent prices they are asking. Many of the windows most likely will have been painted over and over, and most likely contain lead paint. The property itself is not well kept, and I've heard from many first floor neighbors that there have been multiple break-ins. Most of the plumbing and electrical service in the building is greater than 50 years old, and has been repaired piece-meal. Again, if you are considering Forrest Garden Apartments, consider other places first.
