When I moved into Mattison House in 2003, I could not have been happier. The on-site super was (and still is) great, nice/courteous neighbors, reasonable rent. What I liked most was that not just ANYONE could rent; a potential tenant not only had to assure he/she could pay the rent, but also demonstrate that he/she was mature and courteous enough to be a reasonable, inobtrusive tenant (which I believe I have always been). Unfortunately, this all changed when Altman Leasing took over in 2006. Altman will rent to anyone, and the complex is now being overrun by noisy, disrespectful tenants. I have very little peace in my apartment, and with the amount of rent I pay this is unacceptable. And Altman will ignore any complaints about such. I've come to love the Ambler area, but am looking forward to not renewing my lease when my current term is up. Long story short: pre-Altman Mattison House was the best apartment I've ever had. Post-Altman it has become a dormitory, not an apartment complex. It pains me to say this, but it's true.
