We saw Argyle Courts when we were apartment hunting. It's a beautiful, 1920s style building (or maybe a German style house') a few blocks away from Suburban Square, on the other side of Route 30.

A current tenanat was nice enough to show us her place. It's definitely charming in an old fashioned sense: working fireplace, nice architectural details like mouldings, building in glass cabinets in the kitchen entrance, hardwood floors, ancient plumbing. We liked it, but had some reservations: no elevator, BYO window AC (I think), older buildings tend to require more maintenance and have many little things, like windows not opening, water pressure, small kitchen, old wiring. But it definitely has more character than most of the places we saw. It also had a huge open public grounds, which were well maintained and nice.

The residents we met seemed friendly and seemed to like living there.

But the management never returned our call, asking about availability and pricing, so that's not a good sign. Who knows, we might have really liked living there!
