that's what you are paying for. Disclaimer: I didn't live here, I just viewed a 2BR apartment.
We went to see a 2Br, 1000 square foot apartment in May, and were thoroughly disappointed. The building isn't exactly old, but feels run down and outdated on the inside. The long hallways are dimly lit and made us feel like we were underground.
The apartment itself was quite small. They included the large balcony in the total square footage, so the 2Br is really only 700 to 800 square feet. The 2 bathrooms also take away from the livable space.
The hardwood floors are nice, but there is no soundproofing in the apartment. The doors were unpainted, almost hollow feeling ones that did nothing to block out sound. I don't know how the sound separation is between apartments, but the walls seemed thin, drywall material.
For $1K, plus electric, you can do better elsewhere.
