Concerned about utilities

The thing that made me apprehensive about this apartment was the gas and electricity bill. Nothing, and I mean nothing, is included in the rent. But, after living there a year, we found out that that is the best way to rent an apartment. We were not forced to pay a high rent year round like most of our friends who rented apartments with utilities included. We have a low, reasonable rent throughout the year and then we the utilities that we use. Compared to our friends, we pay less each month for a bigger and nicer apartment.
