Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2003
When we first moved into Franklin Commons I didnt think it was too bad. Compared to our last apartment it was very spacious and bright. THen of course after living there a while we just couldnt wait to get out. I have all the same complaints as everyone else. THe windows totally suck, the blinds are cheap and were constantly breaking(anytime a breeze would blow through the window half of the blinds would fall off), The heat never really heated and the air never really cooled the apartment and we had a sky high bill. It sucked to have to drive stinky trash to the compactor, but I was glad that there wasnt a stinky dumpster outside of our building.
THen there are the paper thin walls, but what do you expect, it is an apartment. sooo of course you hear everything that is going on in your neighbors apartment, like screaming fights, and you get to smell everything they cook.
We were told that 4 units shared a hot water heater. We had the hot water heater in our 2nd floor unit. I am glad it never broke because not only would we have flooded but the people downstairs would have as well. And one hot water heater for 4 units really sucked. I had to suffer through cold showers, or showers that went from ice cold to scalding hot back and forth.
In our last year there a neighbors motorcycle was stolen and another neighbors car was broken into.
The rent is too high for what you get.
Maintenance came in a timely manner but whatever they fixed was broken again in a week.
When we moved out we cleaned the apartment and we thought it was spotless but then we get a bill for $120 stating that the apartment was dirty. Whatever. And when we tried to talk to someone about it they we never around, in a meeting and never bothered to call us back.
I would not reccommend FC to anyone. I am sure yo can find something better for the price.
We are happy to be out of there and in our new home!!
