Old building and the Worst management I've ever seen

I used to live there for 8 months. Don't be fooled by the look of the building. They are old. I lived in a second floor unit and my roof leaked during snow days in the winter. The dramatic thing was that a big part of the roof with the leakage in the living room fell on the floor a week before Chrismas! Thank god noone was at home when it was happening. Management responded very slow and only send two guys to cover the broken roof with plastic sheet and I was told it won't be fixed before Chrismas. We spent Chrismas time in the living room with no roof! Can you imagine that'
The plumbing were big problem too and my downstair neighbors were flooded at least 3 times as far as I know.
Yet you would find old building was not the worst problem, once you were dealing the management. Be careful when you sign the lease. They will rip you off when you trying to move out before the lease expires. To terminate the lease, you have to notify them 2 months ahead (compared to 1 month notice most landlords required), and you have to pay penalty of 2 months rent. So when we had to move out for my wife's new job 4 months prior the lease ended, we found we'd better keep the apartment as a outpost at Philly. I tried to work with management to get a better solution, they were extremely less flexible and absolutely not willing to help in any way. We ended up with paying 4 month rent for the vacated apartment.

Leases are binding legal contracts and ours includes a special addendum for breaking a lease. Our Leasing staff schedules 1 hour appointments to review your lease with you before signing. Under First Montgomery Group Management, your Christmas disaster would have been immediately resolved as they have extensive contractor resources and would not have allowed you to spend Christmas in an uninhabitable apartment. |

Funny my ceiling fell in for my three times and they responded the same way. Just patched it up but left huge hole in the ceiling for weeks. The next time it snowed, down came the ceiling again.....ok Roe what dream world do you live in?
